Hairy Dragon
I think we have over done our makeup a tad just for a day on the water.
The smallest hawker with a very distinctive hairy thorax hence the name, found in still clean and clear water with lots of marginal vegetation and the first dragon to emerge.
After a two and a half hour stint on the canal here in Tewkesbury and on my way back down the towpath it was pure luck that I saw her ovipositing on a floating bit of reed which she seemed to be using like a paddle board it was motoring round so randomly.
An Extra cute mallard duckling
A sedge warbler working Extra hard nest building
After the debacle of yesterday when I got THE perfect set up and possible shot but didn't have a card in the camera I was slightly mollified. It was too hot again to be taking Millie out but I made up for it going round Ripple lake this afternoon just to get both our steps in. She has had a nap - totally comatosed in her basket on getting home.
