China Town

Again, in the Kawarau Gorge, visited the old Chinese gold mining site. these buildings were reconstructed on original footprint of the huts that the miners lived in and to the condition that they would have been at the time. This was done for a film site. the original diggings, sluice, waterways and mine shafts still remain in place. One could also see shelters under overhanging rock, that these tough miners sheltered from extreme cold while working the area. the pathways with stonewalls still exist as will. Then to finesh,  we had a go at panning for a chance of instant wealth, sorry to say the bank account won't be increasing in the near future.
