Some more railway history
I’ll tag this for Derelict Sunday. No, not because isbi’s in it, this is the Lapstone Zigzag which was built in 1863 and abandoned 60 years before isbi was even born! I blipped the famous Lithgow Zigzag a couple of years ago and then, only a few months ago, the lower road of the lesser known (almost forgotten) Lapstone equivalent about 60kms to the east on the same railway. It’s not as grand but just as interesting to diehard railway history buffs (there are a few of us left!!)
The main blip is on the middle road of the Zigzag (between bottom and top points). The extra is from the top points at the start of the upper road overlooking Knapsack Viaduct on the lower road and further out over Penrith towards Sydney.
I contemplated saying this is the last time I’ll bore you by blipping railway history but that probably wouldn’t be very truthful so I’ll leave my options open. Back in the mountains tonight after 4 days of interesting and varied activities in the city.
