I’m afraid that ‘feeling like 4°’ is not going to entice me out into the big outdoors this afternoon. The welcoming sunshine of earlier has gone and it’s now cloudy and bright but cold. The weather is being a bit Trumpian leaving us wondering what to expect next. One week we have a mini heatwave, then the next week we are back to low single figures with the forecasters predicting that if we go along in the mean time with the night frosts and chilly winds from the north they will reward us with higher temperatures very soon.
The odd thing is the lack of rain over the last month so that the next thing will be a shortage of water.
However not everything was doom and gloom when I met up with my hip replaced Merry Widow who made it to Sunday coffee just 5 weeks after her op. She has made amazing progress and can now walk without her sticks although she still carries them like upside down fairy wands to ward off possible hazards like potholes, dogs off the lead and tiny children on even tinier bikes zooming haphazardly about Lister Square.
The coven was incomplete as our other member was in Fife for the weekend, but between the two of us we managed once more to sort out the world’s problems according to our rules and expectations. The trouble is we are outvoted by virtue of our age- according to an article that pops up on Facebook we belong to only 1% of the world’s population living to this age. The other 99%take precedence.
