Chunky sparrow

I had suspicions that the house sparrows were competing against the blue tits for ownership of the nest box and this little fella hung around for a while.

Writing this a week after taking the photo I'm not sure if any birds are nesting in there yet.

I took part in an Essex Wildlife Trust house sparrow survey and could report that there are potentially two breeding pairs in the area at the end of March and the end of April.
