The weather sets the tone for the day

Up reasonably early again – just in time to catch Ottawacker Jr., who was heading out to make OC Transpo regret offering a free weekend of travel in order to familiarise customers (all six of them) with the new numbers they had decided to give the bus routes. To some, it might seem a little daft to renumber the bus routes every 2-3 years – but OC Transpo is made of sterner stuff, and knows what its clients want. They want confusion and, if possible, even higher prices. And none of these half-baked “let people travel free for the week so they know what buses they need to get to work” nonsense, oh no, much better to get people travelling for free when nobody in their right mind is using the buses and it’ll just cost money as opposed to costing money and having some useful reason for its implementation. As you might be able to tell, the plum of my loins and I have different opinions about OC Transpo. This is fine as long as I never have to use it.

Anyway, out he went, running up the street with his shoelaces undone so he wouldn’t have to miss the newly numbered 41 (formerly known as the 46, which in turn was formerly known as the 44, which used to be the 41 but then changed in an anterior existence). After coffee and the feeding of the very untimorous beasties, Mrs. Ottawacker and I did the spring clean of the back deck, moving things around to their summer positions, running errands to get the screen fixed on the window (it had fallen prey to a racoon’s attempt at a forced entry), take Ottawacker Jr. to his mid-morning football practice, go shopping at the Trainyards and Kaladar, etc. etc.

After lunch, an improvised dim sum with spicy sauce made from soy sauce and harissa paste (really good), the two others went out on a long bike ride, while I got down to some work. When they got back, we decamped to the garden, where I watched Ottawacker Jr. raking leaves while trying to pen a card to a friend. He was better at raking than I at penning… Dinner of salmon and salad and rice.
