Oysters on Coos Bay

Bags of shells line the property next to the oysterman's store. We've been buying oysters here every time we make this coastal journey, going back at least twenty years. In the afternoon we visit another favorite place, an organic blueberry farm south of Bandon and its picturesque lighthouse. An hour of picking in the peaceful field, where the bushes are sometimes over five feet tall, and we have a big bag of fruit to see us through the next few breakfasts on the road. My teeth are blue from sampling--gotta make sure each bush is as sweet as the one before.

We are camped at Humbug Mountain--I'm sure there's a good story about that name--but all I know is that our site is quite pleasant and the beach is hella windy. We drove about sixty miles today, which is how I like to travel.
