The Artist's Eye

All Posca

Tried a new approach to my painting today. My friend Nancy had told me about a teacher of hers who encouraged her students to paint what they felt. So I thought I’d try it and I started making marks about how I feel about our current President and his minions. I used black and red and made angry slashing marks with my black and red Posca pens. I chose the garish yellow to represent the orange man and gradually added colors and marks. Gradually my focus changed and I began adding colors and shapes that fit in without any particular feelings associated with them. I added dots and squiggles and washed transparent paint, mostly white, in some areas. Finally it felt done. I decided to turn the square canvas and chose this position as my favorite. When I painted it the red triangle was on the left side. I did the whole thing with Posca pens and didn’t add ink or medium as I usually do. Here it is.
