Maggies

For the third year running James and a crew from his work did the Maggies fundraising cycle ride.

We went up to Maggies first to cheer him and the other riders on.  Sad and reflective and emotional.  Remembering other times we visted - the first when we were full of hope and optimism and the last when we digested the awful news that there was no other treatment available.  We saw a few of the staff and one lady gave me a hug.  It is a really beautiful, peaceful place in a busy hospital and Aimee spent many hours relaxing in between hospital visits and the interminable wait for pharmacy.  But that is all in the past and all that remains are the memories.

We drove to the pub and met V&P and J&E and L&J and had a quick roast pork dinner waiting for the cyclists to finish the last 15 miles.  They arrived a bit later than anticipated and I was a bit chilled - wore sunny clothes but Summer had gone!  James was talking about travel plans and I had a few more tears thinking how much Aimee would have loved to be part of those plans....but not to be.

OH drove home and I snoozed in the car - cup of tea and piece of cake and I switched on the TV to a programme about South America - so text James (his travel destination of choice).

Day done - OH watched the Grand Prix and I went to bed to watch another episode of HMT and then download a new book 'The World Played Chess' - Robert Dugoni.  Started a few pages and it looks promising.

I have started 'screenshotting' book recommendations which pop up on FB and Insta - some better than others?
