Something missing in Guernsey?

There is not a single statue of any Guernsey person in Guernsey. We have Queen Victoria, Albert, Victor Hugo even a Guernsey donkey. And we have busts of Daniel De Lisle Brock; probably the best Bailiff we ever had and Thomas de la Rue who founded de la Rue Printers; which printed playing cards, band notes and passports though bizarrely the British decided to award the printing contract to a French firm after Brexit.
I wonder what the French would do if we replaced the statue of Victor Hugo in Candie Gardens with one of a true Guern!

I think both Thomas de le Rue and Daniel Brock are vintage but Brock’s statue looks pretty vintage too so fits the challenge for MonoMonday

And since I live in cloud cuckoo land most of the time I thought it should be my saying of the day…

"CLOUD-CUCKOO-LAND" is a translation of the Greek Nephelokokkugi (Nephele = cloud, kokkux = cuckoo) which is to be found in Aristophanes' comedy, The Birds, first performed in 414 BC in Athens. The play concerns two Athenians disillusioned with life in the city who go to seek somewhere better to live.
