Steampunk Weekend
This weekend sees the annual Steampunk festival at Portmeirion. We went for the first time e last year and loved it, so of course we have to make a return visit.
Like yesterday, the day starts dull with sunshine taking over. Portmeirion is gloriously, warm in the sun despite a chilly wind. Once again, the ‘steampunkers’ are out in force, dressed in a whole range of literally fantastic costumes. The ingenuity involved in creating these outfits is so impressive; many make their own, others collect mismatched curiosities to form a whole new look. This year we also have a rabbit and a badger.
Again, the happiness and openness of the occasion is heartwarming, with its hard not to wear a constant smile. We miss the traditional teapot racing, but manage to see the aquatic version with a range of amphibious teapot crafts competing for a medal.
It’s a photographic fest, and I take well over 300 shots. Everyone is happy to pose, but I tend to prefer spontaneous shots, ending up with a range of both. And of course, you just know I’ll find it hard to choose, so there’s an embarrassment of temporary extras - including four collages. I can only apologise …..
My main is of a wonderfully dressed lady, full of exuberance and style.
