Butterfly House Grand Opening
Normally we open the Butterfly House season on the last Bank Holiday in May, but this year we decided to trial opening on the first Bank Holiday in May instead to give visitors more chance to come and see us.
Once again we had Kemik the Viking - the Widnes Rugby League mascot - to open the season and entertain the kids.
Over 450 visitors in 2 hours - it was VERY busy, but we tried to have some activities to keep people busy whilst queuing - a tombola, free sunflower seed planting and of course a shop full of butterfly/nature related goodies for people to buy.
I didn't actually go into the BH myself, so have no butterfly to blip today, but there will be lots of opportunities for that in the future.
It was lovely to have a little catch up with blipper Sue (villan) - she took a great shot of one of our large owl butterflies.
