Charging

Learning how to fill up the car. Luckily with PV, enough free electricity at this time of year. I don't yet have a wall box which would allow 11kWh AC charging - in fact my car has 22kWh AC charging option, but it comes as standard with a 'brick' or 'Granny Charger' that is as good as a Wallbox and will allow 22kWh charging if you have the right electrical sockets. The car battery has a total of 65kW but one tends to not charge over 80%, i e. 52kW.

For the moment, I only have a standard 16 Amp German single phase plug on the charger (16Ax230V=3.7kWh) but will get 3 phase 16 and 32 Amp adapters as we have several 3 phase sockets around the property (3x16Ax230V=11kWh). I won't bother with 32 Amp at home as our PV will never have an excess of more than 11kWh. Having the 32A adapter may come in useful when on tour away from home, although unlikely.

Whole process seems complicated but isn't at all. The challenge comes when trying to find public high speed DC chargers (+100kWh) at a sensible price when on tour
