Pink Lady's Slipper Orchids in the Scotia Barrens

My husband had a medical appointment in town first thing in the morning, and while he was away, I took my bike over to the Scotia Barrens to check on the status of the lady's slipper orchids, Cypripedium acaule. Last week, they were green. On this day, I spotted my first pink blooms! There are a few more orchid shots, as well as a red eft (newt) and some other fun stuff, on my Instagram here.

There were also some fine pastel reflections on my favorite pond and I had a wonderful time standing on its banks, among the trees, snapping away on the camera. I put a set of 10 of my reflection abstracts on Instagram. Here is a link; enjoy a few moments of peace. . . .
