A perfect day
I have been very conscious that our holiday is flying by and I haven’t yet taken any photos of bluebell woods, especially as I know that the bluebells were out earlier up here than in previous years, and will soon be past their best.
So this morning I set off for a walk at 9.30 am with a beautiful blue sky above me, plenty of birdsong around me, and a spring in my step at the thought of walking around Low Wood, one of my favourite spots up here in the Lake District.
Sadly I didn’t manage to get any really good bluebell shots because the wood was full of ferns which had all grown taller than the bluebells, so instead I’ve blipped the classic view of the Langdale Pikes from the cattle grid on the road to Elterwater. Our timeshare estate nestles in the area of trees in the centre of the photograph.
There are a few other shots in extras to show you how pretty the wood is. I just wish you could have walked round with me – it was an utterly sublime experience, being serenaded by chaffinches, thrushes, robins and even wrens, although sadly I didn’t see any of the latter.
