It's Just a Baby

Our little female bluebird landed on the windowsill right outside my desk where I was sitting. When I saw the  picture on the right I realized that
she is still quite young. We're trying to think of a name for her now that she's practically a member of the family.

We had eerie weather yesterday. It was quite warm overnight and gusty winds blew a lot of leaves still attached to twigs from the oak trees. It looks like autumn here and it's only May. Talk of fire season has begun. John gets rather obsessed with leaves. I think you'll agree with me when you look at the extra. Even he agreed that it was a bit OCD.

I'm having second thoughts about the Apple watch I gave John. I thought it would be a way to keep in touch with him since he never hardly ever takes his phone with him. And if he does, he loses it. He broke a tooth or dislodged a filling a few days ago and got an appointment for the dentist to take a look at it at 8:30 this morning. I did Pilates by myself,  and when he wasn't home by 10:30, thinking he had gone off somewhere on an errand, I texted him. The reply I got was hardly reassuring. Still in the chair can't come home by send. Is it Sunday now.

I finally called the dentist's office and was reassured that he was still in the chair getting a new crown because the tooth was broken and the filling in it was ancient ('We haven't seen one of those in years...')
I'm glad they were able to fit him in, but I wish he would learn how to use the damn watch. I think what happened is that he accidentally pressed the Siri button and she was writing down his conversation with the dentist, or her version of what she heard. The cost of the new crown was enough to cause another emergency.

More crazy talk from our wannabe king about making Alcatraz into a 'big beautiful prison'. It was closed in 1963 after only 29 years because it cost three times more to supply it than other prisons due to its remote location. It is now a National Park and a popular tourist attraction. The one and only time we've been there was with Lady Findhorn and His Lordship when they visited us in Berkeley. It's a really good tour. The common wisdom (among people who can still think for themselves) is that Trump's just throwing anything that comes into his mind out there in hopes of distracting people from the mess he's making of the economy and his goon squad arrests of anybody he suspects of being an illegal immigrant...or just doesn't like.

I don't think it's going to work anymore.
