Ophir Swing Bridge
This bridge built in 1880 is one of few if not the last swing bridges used for cars in New Zealand. It is one way and if you look across the bridge in the photo, you see to enter the bridge you travel through a cut in the rocks. This was done deliberately so when the horses were on the bridge before seeing it, if not they would try and back up off the bridge. This is the second bridge but exactly the same in construction as the first, however made of steel instead of timber. This is because the timber one was unable to take the wait of cars when they appeared on the seen.
