Mom's menagerie...

Thank you for all your lovely comments yesterday on the portrait of my beautiful mother. Today we found 2 stuffed cats on Mom's bed, next to the dog pillow. ;0) 
I had seen the 2nd cat on a couch yesterday when mom took the first one to her room. She was worried it was hurt and wanted to take care of it. There are books and things like the cats in many of the common areas and the staff told us it was perfectly fine for the residents to bring them to their rooms. 

I like how mom has turned both cats to face the dog... like they are having a conversation! She told me yesterday she talks to the dog sometimes. When we gave the pillow to her she was amazed at how real it looked and has repeated this many times. The pillow resembles her dog Beda, who now lives with us. I definitely think these stuffed animals give her comfort.

When I was growing up we had cats and a dog (or two or three!). I'm adding a photo of our cat Shah-Shah to the extras. When my sister & I were little we put her in a little doll cradle with a blanket and she didn't even mind. See for yourself!
