Have you got yourself an occupation?

Himself and I have been cultured again.

More talking.

This time on the subject of the German Occupation of the Channel Islands!

I wanted to go, because as an 8 year old, my parents took us on holiday to Jersey.  It was a big, big deal then.  Plane.  Yes!  a PLANE.  Amazing.   Mum and Dad had gone on their Honeymoon and wanted to revisit.

One of our outings, as well as the Jersey "battle of the flowers"... was the German Underground Hospital.  A memory, which didn't really etch itself in my memory, more like burned a big searing hole and stayed there.   I remember the clanging of pipe axes against stone, and noises of the men moaning with effort, and the little shoes, left in the dirt.

I'm delighted to say that Si and I were the youngest people there (says ABSOLUTELY Nothing because we are both quite old ourselves).

There was a vision in front of me.

Totally distracting me, Have you watched "Something about Mary".   Mary has a flatmate who could have been this woman's double.

I could not look away.

It was also the 10K in town tonight.  All the Glasgow/ Ayrshire runners decend on the town and run a 10K circuit typically closing a few of the roads for about an hour and a half.   We were lucky to get parked, and even more lucky to get out of the town unscathed.

It astounds me how quickly people who have just run 10K want to get in their car and go away.

If I ever ran 10K (highly unlikely), I would be laying on the grass for about 2 hours before I could think about the car.
