Preparing Dinner

It was a good night of meteor watching last night. We managed between three quarters of an hour and an hour before the clouds moved in and saw well over a dozen meteors leaving their brief trails as they scored through the sky. My sister, who was staying with us, had never seen one before, so was particularly thrilled by the spectacle.

She went home this morning, and I spent the rest of the day doing bits and pieces - got my wife's bike running again, after it being untroubled by use for a couple of years, and began clearing rubbish from the shed at the bottom of the garden - including an enormous breeze block which weighed a ton. The plan is to knock most of the shed down and get a greenhouse. Unfortunately, the roof is made of corrugated asbestos, so I think we're going to have to get someone in to sort that out.

Apologies to those who don't like spiders, but this was the only set of pictures which I took today. This is a baby version of the garden spiders which will be building amazing webs around our gardens as we move into autumn. They are steadily increasing in size - not surprising if they are all catching flies as big as this one!
