Wednesday: Coloured Houses
Back up to the Royal Marsden with K for treatment day. When we got to Richmond the District Line was suspended due to a fire on an earlier tube. As alternative routes would have been complex and made us late for the appointment we got an Uber to the hospital. It was a nice drive through some scenic parts of the city (even if we have to listen to the driver’s opinion on the state of the nation).
On arrival at the hospital K was allocated a specific chair and then hooked up for the day. Infusion of the immunotherapy and chemotherapy drugs started at 11am and finished just after 6pm so it’s a long day. The nurses are very kind and solicitous though and make it all as easy as they can.
I went for a long walk up to the King’s Road. It’s been many years since I was there so it was nice to see how it looks now. The rest of the time I entertained K with witty repartee and bonhomie.
I’m reading George Orwell’s Diaries at the moment. I’m hoping it gets more interesting than him talking about his daily egg yield and how much barley his goats eat. That said, I’m approaching September 1939 so I think the focus will shift.
