Swan Lake
No, seriously!
By the time we went inside the theatre, it was a calming joy. The Bantum of the Opera was entertaining the crowd before the Bradford City football team arrived to celebrate their promotion - and it was pacemaker loud!
I'm not a follower of ballet (nor football) but Sarah convinced me Michael Bourne's version of Swan Lake was a good idea. It really was! In fact, the small bits of ballet were an exquisite spectacle (I'd quite like the red butterfly costume please). It was contemporary dance with jazz and a very modern twist on the storyline. They were all incredible but the sixteen male swans were something else (I'd find it hard to choose just one of those!) It's a must watch if you get the opportunity.
We walked through the Bradford streets to the railway station home. That was another surprise. The atmosphere was something like old York cobbled streets lit with fairy lights. I hope, one day, Bradford makes a come-back. it feels like the foundations are there again.
