VE DAY AT 80
I have been watching some of the services on the TV. So good to have all the veterans remembered. My Mum of course remembers a lot about those days, in fact she, along with her sisters, was evacuated as they lived in Suffolk.
I took Garron over to Manjushri, there was a few things he wanted to get from the shop there. The intention had been to have a coffee and read a book whilst he browsed, then have lunch.
We got there, difficult to park, even just after 11, not long after they opened. got into the cafe and they were queueing out of the door -unbelievable. So I just sat and read whilst he browsed the shop.
30 minutes later the queue just kept being added to, we almost decided to go elsewhere but neither of us had coins with us to pay for parking in Ulverston town so we stayed and I went and queued. They are currently serving everything in disposable recyclable containers so no table service.
The food was stil good. I got chatting to one of the volunteers when it had quietened down and she says it's been like that for 6 weeks now, apart from yesterday which apparently was dead - very very quiet - trust us to choose the wrong day.
We went for a stroll through the woods and the bluebells were around but not as prolific as in previous years, in fact the wild garlic look so much better and in profusion. Still lovely to see so many wild flowers around though and hear the buzz of bees and bumbles.
That's all from me for today - do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
