Thursday VE Day

There have been many moving stories commemorating VE Day today. Letters, written home during the war, were read out and you cannot imagine what living through to those times must have been like.

So, I have given some thought to those people today.

The photo is a hawthorn, or similar, that I spied in a hedgerow whilst out walking this morning. I thought the colour was particularly lovely.

We've a houseful this coming weekend so have been busy with preparations. We considered walking up to the top of Roundway Hill, for the beacon lighting this evening, but we don't think time will allow.

We've food shopping and birthday tea to prepare. It'll be fun!

In other news, my cousin died today. He had dementia was was 78. We won't go the funeral. I've not seen him for 40+ plus years and it's likely to be in Devon so a bit of a trek.
