Celebrating VE Day
It's turned out to be an eventful day with Pope Leo IV being elected as well.
Five years ago, during the pandemic, the sun was shining and people were outside having parties, suitably socially distanced.
Nothing like that in Shepshed today although other parts of Charnwood were celebrating. To think that all surviving veterans of WW2 will probably not be around in the next 5-10 years to commemorate another VE Day. And all the friends and comrades that they lost in the conflict. We shall remember them.
This photo was taken last Saturday at the church of St Michael and All Angels at Diseworth. At least they remembered. In truth, I saw four businesses in Shepshed that were displaying large Union Jacks. We saw them on our way to Staunton Harold Garden Centre where we enjoyed ham, eggs and chips.
