Snek

This is - I believe - and Eastern Racer/Black Racer. For years I've just called Black Racers and Black Rat Snakes "black snake." But I'm trying to learn which is which.

In any case - this one was in the dirt road as I was walking along this morning. So I stopped and looked down at it - see extra - and said "Buddy - you need to get out of the road." It was still pretty cool (early morning) so the snake didn't seem inclined to move. But it also didn't even flinch when I picked it up and put it up on the bank so it could safely move on into the pasture. Not a large snake at all. Not a newly hatched one, but certainly pretty young.
