Oban
Another ferry crossing into town arriving just a couple minutes to 12.00pm, as we stepped down the stairs on the ferry a voice on the tannoy announced a one minute silence when the ships horn blew, everything stopped for that minute, it felt special.
A warm sunny day, I had an appointment with the dentist, we had a couple spare hours and after a pizza on north pier spent time in the Museum of War and Peace just across the road. It was here the above photo was taken, the info below was found online*

how often do you see a nun hurtling through town pushing a lawn mower? We had stopped for a hot chocolate and gazed in amazement as she speed walked past, to fast for me to to catch up. I spotted her on the ferry and later caught up on the pier, she was lovely and agreed to a photo, good for her. And on the way home we heard there was white smoke, the pope has been chosen.
* Apart from the short shore ends, the whole of the transatlantic telephone cable was laid by the Post Office cable ship Monarch. It was the only such ship that was capable of carrying the 1,500 nautical miles of cable which had to be laid in one piece across the deepest part of the Atlantic, between Oban in Scotland and Clarenville, Newfoundland. The cable then crossed over the the Cabot Strait to Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia.
