Kyoto

A bit of a lie in after yesterday's adventure. Now in Kyoto, hotel is near the station so easy to get about. 
Met up with a friend of Colin's who lives in Kyoto with his family. Treated to homemade pancakes before a walk through the gardens surrounding the Imperial palace, before stopping for a drip coffee. Carried on to the river where we caught up with his wife and kids. Walked through the park to the shimogama shrine were there was lots going on. A ice-cream for all as very warm before leaving them to get a rest before meeting them later for tea.
After David S took us to a local quirky pub which had been started by a local artist, a few sakes drank over a good chat.
