Yet more inspiration!  Jonathan Harrod ran a workshop that I attended and whilst our images weren't quite as spectacular as his, he encouraged us to tell our photographic story through careful and deliberate selection of light and colour (and others) hence this wee duckling.  Takeaway from Jonathan - use your niece/nephews little stuffed toys as models to test the light/shadow etc!
