This is a bit of a cheat, really, because I didn’t take this photo, but I couldn’t resist using it for today’s blip.
It shows yours truly sitting with Smithers, admiring one of the little tarns on the Langdale estate. We’re drinking in the beauty of the surroundings and listening to the fabulous birdsong, desperately trying to hold the scene in our memory so that it can ‘flash upon the inward eye’ when we’re back at home in suburbia ‘lying on our couches in vacant or in pensive mood’.
When all at once, no we didn’t see a crowd, it was just one person who came up to speak to us. She introduced herself as a member of the Marketing Department at Langdale, and asked whether we’d mind if she took some shots of us from behind to use for publicity. material. Of course we were happy to oblige (as it was only our back view!) and after she’d taken her shots she borrowed my phone and took three more for us to keep. This one was my favourite.
We’ve had the most wonderful two weeks up here in Paradise. Whether we’ll ever come back remains to be seen, but the weather couldn’t have been kinder, and the estate has never looked so good, with lots of pink, red and yellow rhododendrons and azaleas in full bloom, setting the place off to perfection.
And now to start packing up to come home, utterly grateful for this amazing holiday, and feeling so very blessed to have been able to come up here again for one last, magical time.
