All That Jazz

The number of guitars I now own is down to “the bare minimum”. Obviously, I still have my two bass guitars but I have disposed of one electric and one acoustic guitar and replaced them with this “hybrid” which should be able to perform both roles. Maybe not as well as the individual guitars would, but certainly good enough for what I’ll be wanting it to do.
I’ve had a couple of these Fender Acoustasonic guitars before, but could never get on with them as they were the top of the range models and just had too many whistles and bells for what I wanted. But this is one of the new for 2025 “Acoustasonic Standard” models which are not only pitched at a very reasonable price point but only have two controls. One makes it louder, the other switches from acoustic to electric tones (or a blend of both). Perfect for what I want.
I chose the “Jazzmaster” body shape because all the reviews suggested it gave the best tones. It’s certainly loud enough for playing unplugged at home, and I have a little Blackstar amp that can do both acoustic and electric tones if I be want to go louder. There is an all black version, but I’d have to wait until September if I wanted one of them. And looking at the burst glowing in the sun this afternoon, I’m very happy with what I’ve got.
And those with sharp eyes might have noticed the new Hercules stand. Due to the offset body shape, it wouldn’t sit straight on the old stand. I found the right sort of stand cheap on Amazon and Stuart said he’d have the old one off me. By lucky coincidence, when I got home from collecting the guitar from R&T Music this morning, I found the stand sitting on the doorstep waiting for me.
I love it when a plan comes together…
