Good things

Another moth that simply appeared at the end of the day in a place where it could not possibly have been at the start of the day, so it has flown in. Maybe it is newly emerged from its pupa - descriptions say that May is the start of the period when they are on the wing, normally at night

It has the curious common name of 'angle shades'. The wing has an acute-angled shape on it, along with colour shades, and I suppose it was named by someone with a literal mind. Against the white of the door-frame, its colours look stark, but all the descriptions say that, in its normal environment among leaf litter, it is very well camouflaged 

We have had another full-on family day. A mini birthday party in absentio for our son, and a grandson smiling, laughing, playing, exploring, learning, passing milestones, delighting in each new achievement, drinking in sunlight and his first summer of abundant flowers and fresh green growth
