It’s Complicated
Temperature topped out at 92 degrees in the backyard this afternoon. That’s a lot for us coastal folks. Luckily the knitting group met over on the next block, which is about all I could manage. I still feel like I’m moving through pudding. But coastal is good, cuz it cools off at night. I remember my first apartment in New York—it had a covered bathtub in the kitchen. (A lot of old places did—it wasn’t as weird as it sounds. The metal lid served as a table top, and when you wanted to use the tub, it just came off.) In the sweltering summer I kept the tub full of cold water so I could take a dip in the middle of the night and hopefully manage a little sleep on a beach towel on the floor before I had to get up again and have another dunk to cool off. I’m glad I no longer need those skills.
