It’s a wet time in Dar es Salaam, which is good for freshness and sleeping but very bad for drainage. It doesn’t take much of a storm to cause weeks of pooling in the backstreets. After going up and down here a colleague informed me that the pools in this area are very likely to be mixed with leaking raw sewage. I may need to disinfect my shoes thoroughly.
