One of the many dykes round here.

Left to itself, Lincolnshire would be mainly wetlands but ages ago the Dutch came over and constructed lots of dykes to drain the land for agriculture. I guess with projected global warming and rising seas Lincolnshire will become a wetland again, but hopefully not in my lifetime!
