On my 22km run today I took this photograph to help explain the unusual thing which I saw last night. I'm going to be looking out after the sun goes down tonight and if I see it again and manage to get a good shot of it I will add it as an extra.

I've been living in this flat - circled - for over twenty years and I have never seen a plane fly over our building heading towards Kobe; they always fly out of Itami Airport (left of pic) and head towards Osaka (right of pic.). Last night two planes (?) flew towards Kobe (left of pic.) I put the question mark after the word "plane" in parenthesis because the craft didn't really match the usual specifications of a plane. For one, the configuration of the lights was unlike any I have ever seen on a plane (see inset pic.) The larger central white light was extremely bright and blinked on and off. The four smaller white lights at the vertices of the square shape also blinked on and off and were less bright than the large central one. The two red lights were about the same brightness as the small white lights.

Another thing that was strange was that the craft seemed to be flying at quite a low altitude. The sound it made was very similar to a commercial jet airliner, but if it were a jet airliner it should have been much louder at that altitude. I was immediately reminded of how the "drones" around New Jersey often mimicked - and frequently morphed into - human aircraft but never managed to do it convincingly. That's what this was like.

One minute after that craft flew overhead, a second craft, similar but slightly smaller, flew over. My wife and I tried to take a photographs but we were both unsuccessful.
