Early Purple Orchid

I walked up onto Hampsfell this morning.  It was hot in the sun but the slight breeze was mild and refreshing.  I had gone hoping to see all the orchids in bloom in the top fields but found very few - far fewer than in previous years - and those I found were quite stunted.  Could it be that they have just not had enough rain this year and are struggling?
