There's safety in numbers - allegedly

This little group of Globe spiders was situated on the handle of a garden trug in a tight ball, amidst a large silky web, but scattered when I had to move the trug . I'm not sure if birds would feed on them; they were in the open and not hidden away. There must be predators; maybe other spiders? The first measurable rain  for some time, about 3 hours ., which will help the gardens etc along and filled my water butts. A sunny, warm, afternoon followed.
