Bit of a Surprise

Child #2 came over for tea this afternoon - in honor of Mother's Day (Child #1 was working at her store, but called this morning). Child #2 is the one I've turned into a birder (yay me!). Whenever he comes and we sit out on the front porch for tea it seems that a surprising bird shows up. Today's surprise was this Eastern bluebird. Not that we don't see them from time to time here, and occasionally have a nesting pair in one of our random boxes, but relatively speaking it's a rarity. 

I'm not sure if this is a male or a female, frankly. The male is generally the very blue one, and the female looks more grey, but with touches of blue. So maybe this is a female? One of you birders can let me know what you think.
