Mrs Evil Goat

Well what a day we've had. It was the Quorn pony club one day event today - Dressage, Show jumping and Cross country.

They started with a lovely dressage test. Then had an hour's wait for the next phase show jumping. She struggled to get him motivated again and he kept stopping and refusing to move again in the warm up ring. (He likes to have it to himself but it's not possible at a busy event!!) So she had to mostly warm up outside the ring and only managed to pop a couple of practice fences before she was called. Initially he refused to move away from the entrance but she kept her cool and once he locked on to the first fence, he flew round. They had one refusal at the first part of the double which is very common for him unfortunately as he panics about the distance but went over it no problem second go.

He was an absolute machine at the XC and they went clear. She was thrilled with him. We looked at the real time results on line and it showed her in first place but I then realised they had not added her SJ faults. I had a split second thinking oh well that's your problem but then we agreed it's not a win if it's not really  a win so we went to the secretary's tent. She put it in the computer and amazingly it made no difference. Her dressage score was so much higher than the girl in second place that she still came first!! She won a lovely little trophy that has all the winners names on going back to 1975!

I'm so proud of them both. He's not an easy pony and she has worked so hard with him and never gives up on him even when he's being uncooperative. And it feels extra special to have a win today as it's highly unlikely she'll be able to enter it again on little Jack. I just wish his little legs would grow.
