Getting To Grips With A Wavewalker

Today's blip is a book recommendation. I was gifted this book as a Christmas present but must admit I had almost forgotten about it until I came across it in my pile of as yet unread tomes (I'm a bit of a hoarder of books that I've yet to read but I still like to know they're there!).
This is the story of seven year-old Suzanne who sets sail with her family on a three-year voyage around the world on a seventy-foot yacht called Wavewalker that actually turns into a ten year odyssey and over fifty thousand miles of sailing!
It's a way of life that encompasses storms, shipwrecks, reefs and isolation with very few friends and little formal schooling. It's an incredible true story of how the adventure of a lifetime became one child's worst nightmare - and how her determination to educate herself enabled her to escape. 
To me it reads like a thriller and I've been very much gripped and engrossed from the start!
