Picture perfect
I decided to make this as a light lunch having seen it on Nigel Slater’s instagram page, so before the Sunday edition of his Observer came out. So I enjoyed comparing notes. It was very simple, just asparagus with a tarragon vinaigrette with toasted breadcrumbs and almonds. Delicious. I actually used about half of the breadcrumbs as suggested in the recipe and judging by the photo so did Nigel Slater.
Another beautiful sunny day, although quite a stiff breeze. After PIlates first thing I didn’t leave the house or garden again. We had a lovely garden lunch together, V went for a nap and I planted out quite a few of my dahlias although most of last year’s have come up again so there isn’t much space for new ones. I managed to slice through one that was emerging and trod on another, which I am hoping is just a brutal form of pinching out. I managed a bit of time out with the paper in the hammock and a cup of coffee or tea. It was lovely.
V cooked dinner, spetzle which was ambitious with some roast lamb.
I watched the BAFTAs, on fast forward I have to admit, just jumping through the scripted categories where my main interest lay.
