Coming down off Dodd

An early start (for us) as we were meeting blipper Nick_T and his partner Jess at Dodd Woods at 9.30 for a stroll and a chat up Dodd which continued in the cafe afterward. A brilliant morning in their company.

Bassenthwaite Lake is, like all the lakes, very low. The sun was hot and there was a strong wind too on the summit.

After a quick lunch we met Adam and Jane for the torturous experience of booking Ryanair flights to Venice from Manchester next February for a snowshoeing trip to Northern Italy.

Otherwise, after that we strolled along Derwentwater along with the tourists. We felt rather content. It’s the end of our first week, back to Kent on Friday to work in house and garden.

What a week it has been. It feels like home already and we’ve been so warmly welcomed by blippers and other friends alike.
