Bridge at Brynmawr
“I read a book called 'The Tao of Physics' by Fritjof Capra that pointed out the parallels between quantum physics and eastern mysticism. I started to feel there was more to reality than conventional science allowed for …”
Brian Josephson
"The Tao of Pooh" had the same impact on me. Remembered the talk at Bedwellty House today, so after a slowish start and some photo processing I headed out via Blaenafon so I could cut across to Brynmawr and get a few photos of the ‘new’ bridge over the Heads of the Valleys road. The speaker was Chris Parry, from Merthyr, a well researched and entertaining and informative speaker. The subject was Megan (Margaret) Watts Hughes, who devised an Eidophone to create visual images from sound - in some ways a ‘parallel’ process to photography but using sound instead of light. It was a fascinating talk as he related her pursuit of an idea that there was something ‘special’ in the human voice that she wanted to capture, and reproduce in some amazing and geometric images. Plenty of food for thought, so I followed up with food for the body with a late lunch and my mandatory Custard Slice, apparently people put in orders in advance to make sure they get them on the day.
