Corn poppy

This large plant has appeared in one of our borders. I think it may also have popped up last year. I think it is a corn poppy, Papaver rhoeas, and the flower buds certainly look like poppy heads. There are lots of buds on the plant. I have brought home seed heads from the wildflower patches sown by the council on a nearby verge so I wonder if that is where it has sprung from. Where ever it originated, it is a welcome addition to the garden.
Reasonable day at work. Spent the morning revising a presentation ready to deliver it online in the afternoon. I think I improved it and made it more interesting. Crochet at lunchtime - we are wondering what we can do for welcome week this year.
It was also crochet evening group - lovely meet-up and good to see one of our members back after a hip replacement. She's very young to have the op and has made a good recovery. I tried to make the base of a bag but kept losing count as we were talking. I'll have to have a check to see how many stitches I've actually got before I continue.
