Pictorial blethers

Just wandering

We’ve been working hard at being laid back and relaxed - we seem to have got out of the habit. We allowed ourselves a very chilled start - plenty of tea, no rush to breakfast - and a leisurely preparation to get out before the morning was over, but at last we were off. I think I’ve cracked the way to use the pedestrian crossing at the foot of the hotel driveway. (The sight of a grotto to the Virgin in the rock face didn’t inspire confidence). A mix of boldness and abject fear just about cracks it…

I love the colours in the shops here - the bold lemon yellow , the wonderfully bright blues - and the crazily exuberant ceramic heads included the Medusa. I could have bought a shoulder bag like a leather guitar but didn’t. In fact we bought nothing, just walked among the crowds and took photos. Lunch was a panino at the same café we sat at on our first day; we visited the church on the harbour and admired its comfortable curvy wooden benches for the people and modern stained glass inner doors. And then we staggered up the steps and the hill and back to our hotel.

The clouds have been threatening to the north of us all day, but here it’s sunny and the warmest it’s been so far. I’m going to have a kip before dinner … another early start tomorrow !
