The Ongoing Problem With Managers

It's always dangerous when managers and ideas collide.  You never know what kind of nonsense they'll come up with.

Today was a case in point.  Our area of the company has been known as ZI for years - Zentrale IT (central IT).  Quite simple really to understand - we provide IT support to the company.

But.

Managers.

It's not bleeding edge* enough.  So, various people sat down and, with lots of blue sky thinking and brainstorming, came up with a new name.

We are no longer the ZI department.  Oh, no, nothing so old fashioned.  We are now OH which stands for Operations & Information Technology.

It appears they didn't want people to confuse us with OI in case they thought our department was a large group of late 70s punks.

* bleeding edge being much more advanced than cutting edge ideas.
