Day 1 survey….
for Anastrangalia sanguinolenta or Bloodred Longhorn beetle. Strathspey is its only known location in Britain, although it is found in Sweden where it is not critically endangered. The site is pleasant and varied, some open field areas, woodland and with good views of the Cairngorms. Did not find any, probably too early yet but was delighted to find a hijacker in the car, the windows were open and there on the passenger window was a Two banded longhorn beetle. It found me as it was the only one I saw! Very hot and sunny all day.
