Not the nine o’clock news

We had a call from one of our most supportive and entertaining clients yesterday. BT had put some new fibre lines into their office and nothing was working.

Our contact was leaving for Italy ( F1) so we got the job of sorting it all out.

It’s quite a complicated setup, two connections, two switches, two firewalls automatic failovers and so it took a while to figure out how it was supposed to work. Then we had to work out what was wrong.

Seems BT had given the client an incorrect IP address, it only took us 3 hours of plugging, unplugging cables, restarting things, reconfiguring things to finally sort it.

All of this is fine apart from the fact it was hot today so I was in shorts… in a very cooled computer room!! Brrrr

Anyway, happy client which is always a very good thing.
