Just Phil and I for golf this morning and the course was looking particularly good, with the trees lining the 11th fairway in this photo taken on the 8th tee behind the 11th green.

We both managed to play better than our handicaps, Phil - comfortably, me - just.

We didn’t have to pick up Sophie from school until 5 o’clock as she was on a school trip to watch a women’s cricket match between Somerset and Hampshire at the County Ground in Taunton. It was her first experience of a live cricket game and she was very excited when we collected her, clutching a small bat with some of the players’ autographs.

We got her to her dancing class just in time.
